What are allergy tests?
Allergy skin tests are conducted for the purpose of detecting allergic reactions. Some tests can be done to detect allergic reactions immediately, while others test for delayed allergic reactions.
What tests are available?
There are a number of allergy tests available. These include:
Skin prick test
Skin injection test
What do the results mean?
If you have had a skin prick or skin injection test, you will know the result of your allergy test during your consultation. Patch tests may take a few days. If the results are positive, and your dermatologist confirms that you have an allergy, your treatment plan may include prescription medications, as well as lifestyle and dietary adjustments. Your dermatologist may also recommend immunotherapy.
